Carl M. Williams

Carl Michael Williams is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He was educated in the Richland County Public School System, graduating from C. A. Johnson High School. Carl served his country as a member of the US Navy and US Army. After his tour of duty, he attended Midland Technical School in Columbia, South Carolina and graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the states of Georgia and South Carolina and holds a certificate from the National Conference of Funeral Service.

From 2010 – 2012, Carl served as 5th District Governor for the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc. covering the states of Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Throughout his career, he has served as Chairman of the Ninth District of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Secretary of the Ninth District of GFSPA, and a member of the exam committee of the National Conference of Funeral Service Education. In 1998 Carl was selected Mortician of the Year by the Ninth District of GFSPA.

Carl is a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc., National Funeral Directors Association, Inc., Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc., Georgia Funeral Directors Association, Ninth District of the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Convention Chairman of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc., Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Pi Sigma Eta National Morticians Fraternity, Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, Inc., Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), and Certified Pre-Need Counselor (CPC). Carl is a charter member of the 100 Black Men of Funeral Service and serves as its first president.

For over thirty-nine years, Carl M. Williams has served families throughout metropolitan Atlanta, as a funeral director and embalmer at Ivey Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. In 1992, Carl served as President of Ivey Brothers until he purchased the business in August of 1994. The funeral home’s new name became Ivey-Williams Funeral Home for one year. In 1995 the business was renamed Carl M. Williams Funeral Directors, Inc. Since 1975, Carl spends majority of his time serving the communities in which he works and live.

Carl is religiously affiliated with Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he serves as a member of the Trustee Board and Senior Usher Board. He is married to Dr. Carol Thomas Williams and they are the parents of three children, Carlos, Chanté (Ferrisho), and Aaron; five granddaughters, Julia Carol, Emily Jannette, Janine Renee, Arianna Michelle and Ayana; and two grandsons, Carlos, Jr. and Ferrisho, Jr.
