Cynthia Lynn Blandford, Honorary Consulate General Republic of Liberia in Atlanta, Georgia was appointed by Her Excellency Madame Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia in 2009, as Liberia’s first African American female Honorary Consul General. An Atlanta businesswoman in her own right, Hon. Blandford is President and CEO of Global Strategies for Good, LLC, a resource development and relationship management firm specializing in international business-to-business matchmaking, fundraising and travel and tourism and has conducted over 20 business, education, medical and tourism trips to Liberia in collaboration with Delta Air Lines and others.

Honorable Blandford provided leadership on the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Georgia Ports Authority and the National Port Authority of Liberia and played a pivotal role in discussions with Delta Air Lines concerning direct flights to Liberia. She established the University Consortium for Liberia (UCL) where 21 colleges, universities and educational institutions have joined in providing collaboration, joint research, faculty and student exchange and study abroad. The UCL is a partnership with the Liberian Ambassador in Washington, D.C.

Hon. Blandford was born in Elmira, New York, and was raised in Ithaca, New York. She has a B.A. from Georgia State University and holds a Certification in Fundraising Management (CFRM) from Indiana University. Her accomplishments have been recognized by Essence Magazine, Tuskegee Airmen as well as Georgia’s Secretary of State. Accomplishments include the “Global Image” Award bestowed by the President of Liberia for her outstanding work with Delta Air Lines,the Vice President of Liberia’s “Outstanding Work and Dedicated Service” in Organizing the Liberian Business Summit in Atlanta, GA, a “Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition” from Congressman John Lewis, the Martin Luther King Torch of Peace Awarded by Georgia State University, and the Atlanta Business League’s 100 Most Influential Women Award.
