Florence Perdomo Acevedo

My name is Florence Perdomo Acevedo. I was born in Guatemala Central America. I am married, have two daughters, a son and daughter-in-law and five grandchildren. I came to California in 1968 to attend school. I started working with a company that represented importing companies in the gifts industry. After earning my degree in International Business and started as a road sales person. In 1972 that was a “man’s” job. I had to work very hard to get respect from the high profile buyers, considering I was a young, Hispanic, female. By 1982 I had become the regional manager of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties overseeing 125 sales associates. I was privileged to represent the finest and most beautiful porcelain and crystal companies in the world. After 22 years in that industry, my husband and I started our own importing business, imported jewelry from the Far East and Europe.

In 2005 I decided that now was my time to give back to this wonderful country and to my community. Below is a list of my most recent accomplishments:

  • Founder and President of the Guatemalan American Chamber of Commerce.
  • Certified Board member to serve on the Gwinnett County Superior Court Board of Equalization.
  • Class of 2010 Graduate of Gwinnet Senior Leadership.
  • 2010 US Census Complete Count Committee Member
  • Membership Director for the World Chamber of Commerce.
  • Volunteer for AARP’s Hispanic outreach and advocacy programs.
  • Advisory Board Member for the Gwinnet Village Community Alliance.
  • Board Secretary for the Impact Group.
  • Gwinnett Team Leader for the Georgia Association of Latin Elected Officials (GALEO) voter registration program.
  • Committee member for Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GHCC).
  • Committee member for Hispanic Contractor Association of Georgia (HCAG).
  • Committee member for the 2008 Feria de la Salud Bi Nacional serving with several Hispanic consulates.
