Gill Thomas

Gill Thomas is a native Atlantan whose company Custom Assembly & Installations, Inc. (CA&I).provides for the onsite assembly and installation of products that require some or full assembly before full use and enjoyment can be fulfilled. Gill and his team of trained and certified technicians assembles products such asasgrills, game tables, trampolines, office furnishings, lawn and garden equipment, storage sheds and furnishings for every room of the home and more.

The Ready to Assemble (RTA), Flat packed or Knock Down (KD) products we find on pristine display at our favorites retailers will in all likelihood require the purchaser to partially or completely assembly the products in order to use it. That’s where Gill and nearly twenty-two service technicians serving Georgia, both North and South Carolina, southeastern Tennessee and eastern Alabama come into your home, office, institution, industry or retail outlet to provide the final phases of what use to be a manufacturing end process.

Gill attended Southwest high School in Atlanta and served in the United States Navy as a communications specialist.Gill has always enjoyed working with his hands so when he was introduced to the assembly and installations industry it was a natural fit for him and we became a master assembler for a national services company. In 2004 Gill discovered the entrepreneurial spirit within and founded what is known as CA&I with nearly 3.5 million in gross sales to date. After landing small contracts with local companies CA&I began providing its services for the worlds’ largest retailer of home furnishings IKEA USA in Atlanta in June of 2005 and was recruited by its sister store in Charlotte, NC in July of 2009 and includes a white glove shop, deliver and assemble signature service which is very popular with the super busy consumers in and around the metro area. In February of 2012, Gill was selected to participate and graduated in a first of its kind yearlong “Premier Development Program” co-sponsored by Georgia Power Corporations Supplier Diversity Program and The University of Georgia Office of Minority Business Development.

When asked about what exactly does CA&I do, Gills response is “We save time, frustration and marriages”. The assembly and installations industry is an emerging service sector industry and with sales this year expected to reach well over $420,000.00, Gill sees the potential to create the first of its kind accredited training and certification program for what he has termed the “Certified merchandise and product assembly and installation specialist” industry. CA&I provides its services across a vast demographic of customers from single moms buying new bedroom outfits for the kids and teens to the movie and TV industry with set decorators and designers. Gills sights are already set to expand the companies’ footprint with offering its services to the newly planned IKEA Miami/Dade store slated to open in the summer of 2014 thus becoming a true regional entity in an industry the he hopes to bring a greater general awareness to. One of the most common refrains heard from our customers is, “I had no idea that I could have called someone to come out to my home and assemble my grill, you guys are great and I’m saving your number because everything these days requires assembly”.
