Gregory F. Daniel

With more than 20 years of experience as an emergency medicine physician and an MBA degree, Dr. Gregory Daniel is a successful physician, entrepreneur and leader.

Dr. Daniel is President of two divisions of TeamHealth,one of the largest providers of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals in the United States. TeamHealth’s 8,500 affiliated healthcare professionals provide emergency medicine, hospital medicine, anesthesia, urgent care, and pediatric staffing and management services to approximately 800 civilian and military hospitals, clinics, and physician groups in 47 states. He is responsible for all aspects of the divisions’ business, including financial solvency, physician relations, revenue generation, marketing, corporate development, and shareholder and client relations.Chosen to lead the newly created TeamHealth Urgent Care Division, Dr. Daniel conceived and developed an innovative delivery model that is now hailed as a benchmark for all other urgent care centers nationally.

Dr. Daniel is also CEO of Nidus Development, a boutique commercial real estate investment and development firm. Nidus specializes in original multi-use medical/retail campuses designed to enhance the patient experience. The company’s current portfolio consists of property and assets primarily in New York, Texas and Georgia, with significant projects in progress including the Fairview Medical Campus in Henry County, Georgia.

In 2000, Dr. Daniel founded The Exigence Group, an organization that grew to comprise over 50 business entities including emergency medicine practices, hospitalist programs, urgent care centers, primary care and specialty practices and real estate development enterprises. He served as CEO until May 2012 when The Exigence Group joined TeamHealth. Under Dr. Daniel’s guidance, Exigence expanded its footprint, enhanced its reputation and became known for strong management and fiscal responsibility. With attention to detail and an eye on the future, he stressed the importance of innovation within the organization to meet emerging client needs.

Born in the Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Daniel earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and doctorate of medicine from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, he is licensed to practice medicine in eight states. Dr. Daniel earned his MBA from the University of California, Irvine, and was named “Best Leader” for his class.

Dr. Daniel has been actively involved in numerous professional organizations where he has taken leadership roles. For example, he was a member of the board of governors for the Catholic Independent Practice Association of Western New York (now known as Catholic Medical Partners) for 10 years, where he served on the negotiation and compensation and utilization committees. In addition to serving patients and his profession, Dr. Daniel served his country as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring at the rank of Major.

While passionate about assisting those less fortunate, Dr. Daniel shuns public recognition for his philanthropic activities. However, he was a driving force in the establishment of The Exigence Group Foundation, a 501-c3 organization dedicated to helping people in need, particularly children and those with healthcare-related issues.
