Linette Ward and Octavia Mahone

Mrs. Linette C. Ward is a woman with a vision and passion for service.
In 2006 Mrs. Ward answered her calling to serve in one of the world’s most
honorable professions, when she partnered with Octavia J. Mahone and Jacquelyn M. Flowers in ownership of the now 105 year-old firm, Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Inc. In 2007, the Partners purchased the current location at 182 Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard in Newnan, Georgia.
Linette enthusiastically completed her apprenticeship under the excellent
guidance of Reverend Dr. W.T. Edmondson and her business partner Octavia J.
Mahone, and graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in
2009. At Gupton Jones, she was honored by her peers with the Bill Pierce Award.

Mrs. Ward is a Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Life Insurance Agent in the State of Georgia. Her commitment to excellence and service is not limited to her work-life, but she finds time to give back in the community. Appointed to the City’s Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Core Team for the City of Newnan. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Summit YMCA, Newnan, Georgia and serves on the Community Engagement/Rebranding Task Group. She cherishes her many years of
membership with Jack and Jill of America, Fayette Area Chapter, and the Neweta Club of the National Association of Negro Business Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.

Mrs. Ward is also a member of the following professional organizations: The Fifth District of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc. where she serves as Secretary, Education Chairperson, and has served as Membership Chairperson, on the Membership and Special Events Committees; Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc. where she serves as the Nominating Chairperson; The National Funeral Directors and Mortician Association, Inc.; Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice were she is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and Life Member, 100 Black Women of Funeral Service; Alpha Omega Chapter of the Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Inc.; Wi-Band Civic Club, Coweta County Chamber of Commerce

She is a member of Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist
Women, sings in the Gospel Choir, assists her husband with the Youth Bible Study, and Co-Chairs the Married Couples Ministry; Wi-Band Civic Club, Coweta County Chamber of Commerce Linette is the recipient of The Woman of The Year Award in Business from the Orchette’s Civic Club; Mother of The Year and The Business Award from The Neweta Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc, Entrepreneur Award for Outstanding Service to the Community through the Funeral Home Business by the Lay Servants of Newnan Chapel UMC, 2015 Fifth District Mortician Of The Year of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association, Inc., Proclamation from the City of Newnan – Mayor Keith Brady naming March 15, 2015 Linette Ward Day, Phi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Community Service Leader of the Year for Coweta County.

She is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota and the daughter of Mrs. Ina R. Horris and the late Mr. James C. Horris, Sr. Linette married to Attorney Graylin C. Ward, and they are the proud parents of four children: Jordin, Graylin, Braxtin and Morgin.
