Ralph Moore

Ralph Moore one of seven children was born to Ralph and Ester Moore in Gary, Indiana. After the untimely death of his father, Ralph’s grandmother (Alberta Moore) took him at the age of three months and raised him as her own son. Ralph graduated from Roosevelt High School where he excelled both in the classroom and in sports. After graduation, Ralph entered Marian College (Indianapolis, Indiana) and majored and graduated with a B.A in Sociology.

After several jobs in hospital management, Ralph went back to school to further his education with a Masters of City Planning from Texas Southern University in Houston Texas. After working in several communities across the United States as an urban planner, Ralph met his wife, Camilla Johnson and decided to move to Georgia. His first job in Georgia was director of planning for Newnan, Georgia where he guided their growth for seven years by drafting their first state approved Comprehensive Plan.

There was no better time available, when the opportunity to serve as mayor of Union City was presented to him. Ralph decided to run in 1991 and has served faithfully as mayor for sixteen years. Using his training and expertise in urban planning and public administration, Ralph has helped shaped a different Union City that is meeting the ever increasing demands of an exploding and changing Atlanta metro-area. Some of his significant accomplishments are as follow:

  • Teen curfew
  • Highway lighting along Interstate 85
  • Development of the three city (Union City, Fairburn, and Palmetto) water and sewer authority to severe the water ties with Atlanta
