1st Choice Credit Union Born in Pensacola, Florida, Sheilah moved to Atlanta Georgia to advance her career. In May 1990, she became the President/CEO of 1st Choice Credit Union. She is a Certified Chief Executive and has been in the Credit Union Profession for over 33 years.

Sheilah has mentored many credit unions locally and nationally. She traveled to Louisiana after Katrina to assist CEOs, Boards, and staff with recovery efforts. She is often sought out to speak at meetings and conferences, has chaired or been a board member for civic organizations, committees and other credit union organizations. She was the 1st African-American to be elected the President of the Greater Atlanta Credit Union Chapter and the Georgia Credit Union Executives Association. 1st Choice is the only minority headed credit union in Atlanta to be designated as a HUD intermediary Counseling Agent. For 5 consecutive years, 1st Choice has received 1st Place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award, the highest community service award given to credit unions.

Sheilah is a founding member of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC). AACUC’s mission is to increase the global credit union movement’s strength by adding the focused perspective and energy of credit union volunteers and professionals of African-American and African descent. AACUC spearheaded the campaign that raised over 1.2 million dollars from Credit Union across the nation for the MLK Build a Dream Foundation. She was instrumental in getting Georgia Credits Unions to contribute collectively over $66,000. She believes that her success is contributed to God’s Blessings.
