Zsa Zsa Heard

A native of LaGrange, Ga believes a BIO, entails many things, but what I desire my BIO to accomplish is to innovate, transform, add value, create resilience and allow those reading my BIO to reach their full potential in life. I believe all of us should play the role of a public servant because without serving we can’t truly reach our full potential in life. Serving is an honor and it is what I should do to serve my community.

She attended Tuskegee University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She later attended Troy State University and obtained a Masters in Counseling and Psychology. She has completed all coursework toward her PhD. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor.

She is currently employed as the CEO for the LaGrange Housing Authority. One of her goals as the CEO is to add value to the lives of the residents to create a platform that allows them to flourish and grow, provide services that innovate healthy lifestyles and transform the current housing into state of the art living conditions that innovates the community around the housing authority to get aboard and become a change agent to change the current infrastructure that does not display blight, and deconcentrate poverty.

Accomplishments/Public Service

  • Community Garden was created for the community of Whitesville Road and Surrounding Streets
  • Community Garden was created for children with Special Needs in the Revis, Borton, and Niles Street, Vince Sutton Boulevard and Glenn Robertson Drive
  • National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) – Leadership Award 2016
  • Proclamation from Mayor, Jim Thornton to host Life Skills Classes to decrease and deconcentrate poverty to increase self-sufficiency in our community
  • Selected by City Council to serve on the Zoning Task Force
  • Served on the City’s Comprehensive Task Force
  • Leadership Troup Class of 2016
  • Serve on the Youth Leadership Committee for the South Eastern Regional Council
  • American Red Cross Central Midwest Georgia – 2017 Hometown Hero
  • The Department of Family and Children Services Appreciation Award
  • LaGrange College Leadership Council
  • Transportation Services was created to assist with Drug Court recipients
  • Transportation was created for the homeless in our community
  • Weekly Reader for Yvette’s Little World
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringer
  • Youth Basketball Team Created for housing authority children and community children
  • Niles Street renamed to Vince Sutton Boulevard to begin to remove negative images and stigma on our community
